Information from Jean Ross, This lodge was occupied from the late 1860s to 1887 by my 3 x great-grandfather, Charles Harrington, and his family. Charles had been employed since the 1840s as a coachman to Thomas Jessop, steel maker and benefactor of Jessop's Hospital, and who lived in Endcliffe Grange. The Jessops previously lived in Sharrow House and Charles had also lived in the lodge to that property. He died in Nov 1887 and Thomas Jessop died 9 days later. Both men were aged 83.
